MR. STANLEY S. DAWES, M.I.Meot.E., was last week re-elected, for the fifth time, president of the Institute of the Motor Industry.
MR. S. T. IvrasTawroN has been appointed joint managing director of Brown Brothers, Ltd. He was elected to the board in 1945.
MR. W. G. WIDNELL has been elected chairman of the London centre of the Industrial Transport Association. MR. E. YOUNG is vice-chairman.
MR, C. M. VIGNOLES„ 0.B.E., has been appointed managing director of Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd., in succession to MR. C. M. MERRICK, who is retiring. Mr. Vignoles became a director of the company in November, 1950. Before that, he was eastern area manager of the Shell Petroleum Co.. Ltd.
Ma, B. 0. MASSE, who had been seconded by the Shell Petroleum Co., Ltd., to the International Road Federation as chief executive of the European and eastern region, has now rejoined the company. LT.-Coe. K. E. Boma, assistant executive, will act as chief executive until this post is filled. MR. GEORGE KEATLEY, works manager of the Dunlop Rim and Wheel Co., Ltd., has retired.
Mn. FREDERICK BACON has retired from his post as transport manager of Messrs. Grange Laundry, Sunderland. I-le TS succeeded by MR. A. McLucele. Mn. A. HYMAN, assistant general manager and operations manager of Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd., has retired.
SIR Giutotia JENKINS, !C.C.S., K.B.E., MC., MitasT.T., secretary, Ministry of Transport, has been elected an additional ordinary member of the council of the Institute of Transport, Mn, R. McK. WALKER, transport manager of the United Molasses Co Ltd., will represent the Traders' Road Transport Association on the Liverpool College of Commerce advisory committee on transport.
MR.. A. C. Heaney, C,B.E., B.Sc. (ENG.) (LoNo.), M.I.Mecii.E., has been appointed president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Until the end of last year he was chief engineer of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co., Ltd.
Mn. C. W. H. SPARROW has been' reelected chairman of the tipping vehicles group of the Road Haulage Association. The following have been reelected vice-chairmen: MR. F. C. HARFOUT, MR. C. A. Malone and Mn R. N. INGRAM.
