HOME DELIVERIES in Scotland are best handled on a regional basis as national firms struggle to reach rural areas, particularly the Highlands and Islands.
That's the opinion of Murray Prentice, managing director of Homeling. a subdivision of haulage firm J BT. Homelinq is targeting retailers, manufacturers and national delivery firms in a bid to expand its operation.
Prentice reports that failure rates among national players delivering to the more remote areas in Scotland can he as high as 7%, whereas Homelinq's failure rate is just 0.7%.
Home linq, which specialises in the delivery of furniture, beds and electrical products, provides regional deliveries for national delivery firms and also covers the whole of Scotland for manufacturers and retailers.
Prentice explains: "National delivery services are often challenged when dealing with rural areas in Scotland,and reaching the Highlands and Islands.
Not many firms know that we can solve their regional homedelivery problems."
J BTis currently the main haulier to and from the Orkney and Shetland Islands; it also provides distribution to the Highland and Grampian areas.
