PROVING THAT IT is now a haulier beyond parody, the 'stars' of Channel Five's trucking documentary — Eddie Stobart: Trucks and Trailers — have recorded a novelty Christmas single.
Its special rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas features new lyrics referring to what Stobart sticks on the back of its trucks at Christmas — 'four frozen turkeys'; '10 mince pies'; 'seven spotters spotting' and the like. May we suggest "one fifth wheel" or "six cylinders a-pumping"?
If you're fearing the reincarnation of such Christmas classics as Benny Hill's "Ernie (The Fastest Milkman in the West)" and Mr Blobby's "Mr Blobby" it doesn't matter — because the single has been recorded to raise money for Help For Heroes.
Even better: it was recorded by Stobart employees Matt Ekins and Lee Dowling, who served together in Bosnia with the Royal Logistics Corp.
So no matter how bad it is, we would urge you to do your bit for charity and download a copy when it is released on Monday.
