Flints hire magistrates have fined Llandovery-based Owen James £1,000 with 285 costs after the company pleaded guilty to using a vehicle with a defective speed limiter.
The court heard that in January an MAN artic belonging to the company was directed to the HGV test station at Liay, where it was noted that the speed limiter had been disabled; the wiring to the system's electronic control unit had been disconnected at the security socket. The company's tachograph charts revealed that the vehicle had regularly been driven at more than 90km/h.
When company director Janice James was interviewed she confirmed that she checked the company's tachograph records but said she did not know where the maximum speed line was.
