into pro posed increases in tolls on the Humb Bridge. Tolls for a four-axled truck are set o rise by 50% by October 1998, from current £10.90 to £15.40.
The FTA argues that any increase will only further deter hauliers from sing the bridge and are in contraventi n of the Government's policy to in ease such charges by the rate of inflati n. It also points out that the de t-laden bridge is already failing to 4ieet it repayments and says a long-t rm solution must be found through discussion rather than simple raising of tolls.
