Argos bids to build major RDC in the North-East

ARGOS SAYS it will create 700 new jobs including a number of driving posts, if it gets the green light for a new regional distribution centre in the North-East.
The retailer has applied for permission to build a 68,000m2 depot at Faverdale Easy Business Park, Darlington, to service its home-delivery business Argos Direct. The site will include 166 truck parking spaces and room for 26 trailers. Councillor John Williams, the leader of Darlington Borough Council, says: "Argos is one of the top retailers in the UK and we are
delighted to receive their application for what could prove to be one of the most significant job boosts for the town in recent years."
An Argos spokeswoman adds: "We would prefer to make no further comment until planning consent has been received."
