BOURNEMOUTH bodybuilder Pam Trailers has been bought by the Highshares Group of companies whose other subsidiaries include haulier Buck Transport, and bodybuilder Giltsave.
Highshares told CM that it intends to allow Pem Trailers to operate independently and to build its own design and range of bodies. These are seen to be complementary to those offered by Giltsave.
The new owner hopes that Pem can reach the production levels of three and four years ago.
Giltsave is established in Essex and Staffordshire while Pem is sited in Poole, Dorset. Highshares believes that both companies will benefit from the wider geographical cover that they will offer.
Chairman of Highshares, Tim Franey, said that the country's bodybuilding market is far too fragmented at present to cope with any upturn in vehicle demand, but by linking the two companies, research and production facilities for both will improve.
