CONTAINER TRANSPORT firm Maritime Transport has recorded its third year of impressive growth since its management buyout in 2001.
The company's latest accounts, for the year ending November 2004,show turnover up by 35% on the previous year to £44.7m. Pre-tax profit rose to £2.09m, up from El .3m in 2003.
Alan McNicol, financial director at the Felixstowe-based firm, is conlident that results for 2005 will be similarly strong. He says: -We are expecting business to continue to perform well in 2005 despite a marked slow-down on the High Street.
We have been able to pick up work with other customers that we have not done before in order to make up for lower volumes."
The firm's director, .Tohn Williams, warns that the whole container sector is seeing the effects of reduced consumer spending: "We have had a fouryear party and now we have woken up with a hangover."
