Thanks to those fine people at Hill Hire we've pulled together a full house of the UK's most popular 7.5-tonners for this week's group test.These five trucks fill the top positions in the SMMT's registrations rankings in this ultra-competitive sector.
In pole position, of course, is Iveco's Eurocargo,but the Daf LF is hard on its heels with the Mercedes Atego in third place. MAN's otitgoing L2000 and the Renault Midlum scrap for the minor honours.
Straight from work
All our test trucks came straight out of the giant Hill Hire rental fleet where they'd been worked hard since entering service. After no more than a quick wash and brush-Up they were handed over to our test team.
We loaded each vehicle with a couple of tonnes of bricks, courtesy.of BrockIeys Bricks,and headed off round our arduous Shropshire rental test route.
The aim of this group test is three:foId.First, we wanted to carry out a 'real-worId' test of the top 7.5-tonners, exactly as a vehicle renter would receive them. Second, we wanted to know how these five examples have stood up to doing time in the tough,uncompromising world of the rental fleet. And finally,for personal reasons, we wanted to decide which vehicle we'd opt for ' if hiring one for a house move...
