A COMPANYTH ATwas formed to take over the business of William Martin Oliver & Partners following the jailing of two of its bosses has been refused interim authority to start work.
Fleming Logistics was incorporated at Companies House on 11 March and its director, Margaret Fleming, was expecting to take over the activities of the beleaguered Hexham-based firm after former bosses Stuart and William Oliver were jailed (CM24 March).
This would have saved 115 jobs, but Traffic Commissioner Beverley Bell rejected Fleming Logistics' bid.
The firm's registered address is in nearby Newcastle upon Tyne: the firm was formed by the directors of Scottish company A&M Fleming, based in Alloa.
Bell also decided that Christopher Pearson, Oliver's new trans port manager, who is licensed to run the firm until the end of the month, was unsuitable in the role.
Bell has passed her reasons for her rejection to the Transport Tribunal which will now decide if the licence can continue until the end of April.
