• A former policeman has been jailed for a year after being found guilty of causing the death of a truck driver following a road-rage incident. Retired constable Kenneth Todd of Meikleriggs Drive, Paisley, who had a clean driving record, was jailed after a jury found him guilty of causing the death of Peter Boyle from Maryhill, Glasgow in January last year. The court heard that Todd had swerved across the road every time Boyle tried to overtake. Boyle, who had only been working for six weeks with the Houston firm of Renfrew after working for many years with Hendersons of Paisley, died of multiple injuries when his truck crashed into a concrete pillar on the central reservation. Witnesses described how Todd had accelerated away after the crash, despite attempts by other drivers to make him stop.
