II The continuing rise in commercial vehicle registrations shows no sign of abating, with another record month recorded in July. Registrations for the month climbed 118% to 23,398, bringing the total for the year to 208,732.
According to the latest Society of Motor Traders and Manufacturers figures, not only did it mark the fifth month of continuing growth this year, but it also the third record monthly market of 2003.
This was partly attributable to the demand for light CVs, which rose by 13.5% and made up 82.8% of July volumes. Truck volumes rose 4.7%.
There were mixed fortunes In the light CV sector, with Vauxhall showing strong increases in the sub-1,800kg category; in contrast, Peugeot was significantly down on the same month last year. Ford is also under-performing in comparison to last year, although it was up in the 1,801-3,500kg sector.
In the heavier truck market, only Renault Trucks enjoyed significant increases with other manufacturers remaining fairly stable.
