• The Kent-based Operator's Licence held by John Beazer, Keith McPhail and Kim Quinnell, trading as Cargo Express, has been revoked and all three have been disqualified from holding a licence for three years at an Eastbourne Public Inquiry.
South Eas.irn & Metropolitan Licensing Authority Brigadier Michael Turner also refused the partners' application to renew the licence for 12 vehicles and three trailers, "following a history of unsatisfactory vehicle maintenance and record keeping". The inquiry heard the firm had already been called to a public inquiry in March 1993 after a report from the Vehicle Inspectorate showed high levels of annual test failures and prohibition rates. The company also received unsatisfactory reports in September 1994 and again when the partners applied to renew the licence in June.
