CM'S used truck route is shorter but no less demanding than the tried and tested Scottish route we use for new vehicles. The first section of the route, up the 45 from Hinckley and onto the M6 northbound, is the same, but we come off at Junction 16 and head across Cheshire to Wrexham on the 4483.
We stay on the 4483 south out of Wrexham and follow it all the way to Crossgates at IJandrindod Wells (this section of the route includes the Dotfor Hill climb).
From here we take the 444 to Leominster and the 449 to Ross-On-Wye (this section includes our second climb at Dinmare Hill). From there on in its easy street on the M50, M5, M42 and M40 before heading north to Hinckley via Warwick, Coventry and the M69 to boost fuel figures still reeling from the tough section of the route.
This is a gruelling two-day 5071km run taking in three varied sections. It has a high proportion of tough roads, so overall fuel results will inevitably appear worse than those on the Scottish route.
