Drivers from the Transport and General Workers Union (T&G I working for P&O on their fuel distribution contract for Shell were expected to reject a new pay package as CM went to press.
The deal, claimed by P&O to be a 7% rise but actually closer to 2.5% according to the union, was facing rejection after a membership ballot.
This could now pave the way for industrial action if the offer is not improved.
Ron Webb, T&G national officer for road transport, says that the T&G's members in the oil transport industry are determined to improve their pay and conditions.
