ANEW semi-trailer built by Carrirnore Six-Wheelers, Ltd., for the Metal Box Co., Ltd., has a roof which may be raised to provide sufficient clearance for palletloading, and lowered to secure the load in transit. This action is allowed by the provision of a screw jack at each corner Of the outfit.
The jacks are actuated by a continuous roller chain running within a tube which surrounds the vehicle, and are operated by a handle at the side. The chain engages sprockets at the bottom of each jack. ,
Curtains are fitted on each side of the body, which is 28 ft. long and offers a loading height of 4 ft. 1 in. The roof may be raised from 6 ft. 6 in. to 9 ft. 6 in. above the platform.
A Seddon tractpr is employed, and the turntable is of the Carrimore quick. coupling type.
