CHLORIDE TECHNICAL of Swinton, Manchester, the technology centre for the Chloride group, has been awarded three contracts worth a total of £8.4m by Machinoexport, a Bulgarian engineering company.
The contracts are for the design, supply and supervision of installation of specialised machinery and equipment for the manufacture of automotive and industrial batteries in three factories in Bulgaria.
Negotiations between Chloride Technical and Machinoexport began early in 1982 and delivery of equipment is due to start in mid-1984 with installation continuing during 1985.
Chloride says the contracts were won in the face of strong international competition. As well as being responsible for the Chloride group's research and development, Chloride Technical already operates a plant and technology trading section which serves other battery manufacturers throughout the world.
