If! use a vehicle which used to be taxed as farmer's goods within 30 miles, does the driver need to keep a tachograph record?
Does a tachograph which is being used only as a speedo have to be checked every two and six years? Also, does a tachograph have to be used in a private horse box?
A The EC tachograph law
does not apply to vehicles used by agricultural, horticultural, forestry or fishery undertakings for carrying goods within a 501m radius of the vehicle's normal base. Nor does it apply to vehicles used for noncommercial carriage of goods for personal use (for example, horses for hobby purposes).
While a vehicle is used for these exempt purposes, none of the EC tachograph rules apply to the driver, his employer or the instrument in the vehicle. Even if a tachograph is fitted, it does not have to be used or calibrated.
If the tachograph doubles as a speedometer, that part of it should be in working order.
