A NEW form of vehicle sideboard system has been developed by Brade-Leigh Products Ltd of Albion Industrial Estate, Oldbury Road, West Bromwich, West Midlands, B70 9EH, which features a new type of retainer and no pro tuberances.
The side is made up of two pieces of sheet aluminium, one forming the main body and shape of the side piece, the other being pressed into a stiffener which is positioned behind the side piece.
The retaining lock is set'
into a longitudinal trough which is featured completely around the body. This feature is the subject of a design registered by the company.
In order to contain costs the company has purchased equipment to enable it to press and manufacture the necessary panels itself. The catches, supplied by J. R. Supplies Ltd of Cardiff, are of the over-centre type and lock onto a steel keeper welded to the appropriate support pillar. The keeper protrudes through a square hole punched in the sideboard and lock.
