THE third to be appointed since the 1 formation of the Road Haulage Association in 1935, Mr. John Strang has been made an honorary member of the Association. He entered transport in the 1920s and became one of the early presidents of the Scottish Carriers' Association, later merged with the R.H.A. For some years he was national vice-chairman of the 12.11.A. and chairman of the Scottish Area. With the introduction of the 1930 and 1933 Acts, he was approached by the Ministry of Transport to serve on the Rates Tribunal. He has also served on the joint 'industrial council, later the Road Haulage Wages Council. During the war he was a sub-district manager under the War Transport Defence Emergency.
