bus golden jubilee
• An historic occasion—the golden jubileei trolleybus operation on Teesside—passe without any official ceremony on Saturda' November 8. The original route from NonI Ormesby to Grangetown opened on Novembi 8, 1919, and a circular route was completed the Teesside Railless Traction Board just befo April 1968 when the new Teesside Courr Borough was formed, and the trolleybust passed to Teesside Municipal Transport.
Although Teesside's general manager, M W. C. Wilson, claimed that the department fu neither the time nor the labour to celebra the occasion, the National Trolleybus Associ tion has produced an illustrated brochure e titled Fifty Years of Teesside's Trolleybuse Illustrated is one of five Burlingham-bodii Sunbeam F4A trolleybuses purchased fro Reading Corporation Transport which are tl most recent vehicles to operate on what is oi of the oldest British trolleybus systems, tI third system in Britain to reach its goldl jubilee, and one of only four surviving system
