THE importance of sound packing, particularly for export, was stressed by speakers at the opening of the First National Packaging Exhibition at the City Hall, Manchester last week. The show closes to-morrow.
On more than 100 stands are to be seen, items of packing equipment and provision is made for handling everything from the tiniest articles up to 20-ton oil engines. Of particular interest is the plastic spray system, by means of which machinery can be enclosed so that it is preserved from rust for years.

88 TROLLEYBUSES ORDERED
AN order for 88 trolleybuses has been placed with the Canadian Car and Foundry Co., Ltd., Montreal, by the British Columbia Electric Co., Ltd. The cost will be approximately 24,000 dollars each.
The new vehicles will go into service next year to carry forward the B.C.E. company's transport conversion plan in -Vancouver. There will be 168 trolleybuses operating in the city by the end of the year. The company plans to spend 110,000,000 dollars in modernizing its plant.
