1-1. A S anticipated when their four
cylinder engined normal control Traders were announced in February, the Ford Motor Co., Ltd., have now augmented the range by the addition of 5and 7-ton six-cylinder types, one of which will be exhibited at Earls Court next week. The new models are offered with wheelbases of 14 ft. 2 in. or 15 ft. 4 in., and the available power units arc the Ford 6D 5.4-litre 108-b.h.p. diesel engine or the Ford 4.9-litre 112-b.h.p petrol unit.
A four-speed synchromesh gearbox is standard, with the option of a five-speed box with direct or overdrive top gears, and singleor two-speed axles can be fitted. The cab is the same as that adopted for the four-cylinder models, features of which are seating for three persons and a good all-round range of vision Production of these 5and 7-tonners is scheduled to start later this year, and will give Ford's a range of normalcontrol chassis extending in capacity from 1.5 to 7 tons. The new models will be available as chassis, chassis-cab or as complete vehicles with factory-built lorry bodies.
