A recent news story asserted that "the UK's biggest manager of motorway service station car parks is considering setting up a network of secure compounds for trucks" (CM27 July-2 August).
On 24 July I pulled into Warwick Service Lorry park with my 38-tonner, and when I got my TV out for my 45-minute rest the car park man came up to me and asked ill was stopping the night. He told me
that it was 110 and there was a £5 breakfast voucher.
I told him I do not eat breakfast; he then said it was 17.50 for parking the night. Does this seem fair?
I have to pay £7.50 with no breakfast—I for one will not meet their payments. Surely they will come under the Competition Act 1998 when it comes into force on 1 March 2001 for abuse of a dominant position?
