• Dick Jones, h.g.v. driving school instructor of S. Jones (Garages} Ltd., Aldridge, is believed to have been the first man to pass the new h.g.v. driving test, group 1. He took the test on an ERF/York artic at the Featherstone, Wolverhampton, MoT test centre at 8.30 a.m. on August 4. Fellow-instructors Ray Tams and Derek Such passed later in the same day.
