THE 1981 CM Livery Competition begins with the light vehicle class, which is for vehicles up to 7.5 tons gvw. Entry is now open. The judging panel will be looking for a clean and descriptive livery which makes best use of the available vehicle surface. The content need not be ornate, but it should show that care has been taken to describe the owner's business and the point of contact.
Use of too many colours and a variety of clashing typefaces have been the cause of failure in previous events. Badly placed phone numbers and lettering which is too small to be easily legible have also been criticised.
In three words livery should be simple, sincere and clean.
The entry fee is £10 which should be sent with the entry form and four 35mm transparen cies to The Art Editor, Comm cial Motor, Room 304C, Qu drant House, The Quadrant, SL ton, Surrey SM2 5AS. Entrii close on August 19, 1981.
The award, which will be pr sented on October 2, is an e graved silver salver. Entrar who are commended by tl judges will receive a diplon from CM.
The 35mm transparenciE should show a view of the fror rear and both sides of th vehicle. We suggest they shou be produced by a profession photographer.
We cannot enter into corn spondence on the judges' dec sion, which must be accepted z final.
