SHOWMEN look like being one of the few groups to benefit from early implementation of an Armitage Report recommendation.
Their appeal (CMJune 28, 1980) that the length limit for drawbars be increased from 18m to 22m where a lorry is pulling a caravan has already been accepted by Armitage, and the Department of Transport has circulated a draft amendment to the Construction and Use Regulations.
The Showmen's Guild only wants the concession to apply to the haulage of living vans, and not cargo transport, and the DTp intends that the concession should apply only to travelling showmen.
