• Hull-based Ormston Technology has launched a combined GPS satellite tracking and datalink system for continuous vehicle tracking in the UK. Claimed accuracy of the French Dassault Sercel GPSTrack is said to be within 10m.
The system is designed to operate over distances between 10 and 30km, depending on the area of operation. In built-up hilly areas the range will be affected. An on-board GPS receiver continuously relays positional data, and the ,:coiral station can track up to 3(1) vehicles per second. Central stations can be linked to others foioperators with more than one depot.
GPSTrack is already being used in France to track buses, airport vehicles, fire appliances and police vehicles. The system could be used to track an ! such as refrigerated, tin:,
