r, Essex-based tanker firm Suckling Transport has received further recognition of its green operation with inclusion in a new 'best practice' guide.
Both the firm's environmental initiatives—Eco Guardian and Tankshare—are included in the latest Road Transport Best Practice Cold°. published by the International Road Transport Union fIRU).
Managing director Peter Lamer says: "I am very pleased that our efforts have been recognised. We have a very good team here. Our staff all display a superb, professional attitude towards our operation."
The Tankshare initiative is essentially groupage for fuel products, with different orders split between the compartments on the tanker or customers sharing a tractor and trailer between them. It has already won the Freight Transport Association's 2001 Environmental Award and will soon be extended to give nationwide coverage.
A spokesman for the Mil adds: "It was chosen because it was an imaginative scheme and it focuses on the operation and making it run more intelligently.
"It also required a certain amount of commercial bravery thanks to the investment in new equipment and persuading customers of its worth."
The report. which features 20 firms from around Europe, will now be distributed to all IRU members.
