THE Southern Scotland Traffic Commissioners have now announced their decision in the contentious applications by the Central S.M.T. Co., Ltd., and the Lanarkshire Traction Co., Ltd-, for permission to use their new £90,000 bus station, at Waterloo Street, as the Glasgow terminus for certain of their services. The application was opposed by Glasgow Corporation and Baillie Brothers, Ltd.
The Commissioners have decided that the station may be used for the Central S.M.T. services from Helensburgh, Newmains, Steathaven, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Sandford and Peebles. and by the Lanarkshire company's buses entering the city by way of Cambuslang and Rutherglen. . The decision means an additional hourly movement of 30-40 buses from the Waterloo Street station.
