A A case dealing with the loading of a tailboard was reported on February 3 1967 (page 51/ and the subsequent appeal on June 30 1967 (page 37).

Regulations 42 and 47 of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1966...No 1288 lay down that the overhang of a goods vehicle must not exceed 60 per cent. It is the loading of a tailboard that can result in this overhang of 60 per cent being exceeded even though the limitation on the overall length of 36ft lin. in the case of a rigid vehicle, may not have been exceeded.
