• On the opening day of the Public Works Exhibition, British Leyland announced orders totalling £2m from local authorities and public works contractors, including a f+rn export order from Algeria.
Leyland /Albion has received' an order for truck mixer chassis worth almost £2m from Steels Commercials Ltd. of Bristol.
Vehicle Orders worth £150,000 for AEC include one for 25 Mammoth Maior 6 32-ton g.v.w. tippers from G. Wimpey and Co. fitted with the AV760 engine and equipped with 10 cu. yd. bodies; these vehicles will be used as replacement machines on heavy earthmoving for motorway work.
Aberdeen County Council, one of whose vehicles is represented on the British Leyland Stand, has ordered a further 10 AFC vehicles, nine of them Mercury Tipper chassis and one Mandator prime mover powered by the AV 760 engine.
