West Midlands lorry park after thieves stole a truck from it and left a trail of devastation.
Residents from Forrester Street in the city looked on in horror as two men leitpt from the moving lorry and fled as it ;areered along the street, smashing ini o six parked cars. It finally stopped in front of a terraced house. The thieves eseaped an foot, in spite of an extensive search using a police helicopter.
Inspector Andy Hunt of Walsall Police said officers on patrol last Friday night became suspicious after seeing the truck turn into a street that is a restricted route for HMIs.
The truck had been stolen minutes earlier from the nearby Pleck Lorry Park, where it had been parked for the nig.ht. Inspector Hunt added that he intended to speak to officials at Walsall Council in a bid to find ways of making thi. park more secure. One witness to tho drama commented: "It's a wonder somebody wasn't killed.''
