FIRST JOB for the newly formed consultancy service of the National Bus Company will be a review of transport on the Isle of Man. The aim of this is to combine the services offered by the two stage carriage operators on the island Into a new unified company. At present Isle of Man Road Services operate 56 buses throughout the island and have a guarantee from the Tynwald, the Manx Parliament, to cover any losses. Douglas Corporation operates 37 vehicles mainly within the town and has only limited assistance from the Tynwald.
Mr T. E. Kermeen, the clerk to the Tynwald Transport Committee, said that the reorganisation would take place as soon as possible after the completion of the study.
