Not drowning, but waving, this intrepid bunch of adventurers described as "mature" motorcyclists set off on 15 March to cross the Sahara desert by bike. its all in a worthwhile cause, as the group, headed by Martin Leathers, aims to raise £136,000 for the charity Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood. The riders are taking a Bedford ex-army truck which will act as their roving base. The Trans-Sahara Charity Challenge is supported by Truckline—the freight service of Brittany Ferries—which transported the gang, with their bikes and van, to Spain for the start of their great excursion. The trek wiL take them to Morocco, the Western Sahara Desert and back to the Atlantic Coast and Agadir. For those net surfers among you, their progress can be monitored on www.tscc.org.uk.
