A FTER months of negotiation, improvements in paid holidays and sick-pay for white-collar workers employed by Crosville Motor Services, Ltd., have been agreed between the company and the two unions representing the employees' interests. The unions are the National and Local Government Officers Association and the Transport and General Workers' Union.
Under the original agreement with the unions, clerical, supervisory, administrative and technical staff at Crosville were entitled to 12 days' paid holidays and, when off duty because of sickness, to four weeks on full pay and four weeks on half-pay.
The new agreement is for 12, 15 and 18 days' paid holidays, the qualification for the longer periods being graded according to the responsibility of the position held. The improved sick-pay agreement is for five weeks on full pay and five weeks on three-quarter pay.
ISRAEL TO ASSEMBLE VEHICLES?
APLAN to assemble commercial vehicles in Israel is being considered. Components and machinery would be imported from Germany under the reparations agreement, but in time numbers of parts would be locally manufactured. The rate of assembly might be 1,500 vehicles a year, approximately equivalent to Israel's present imports.
An earlier proposal by the Kaiser Frazer organization to assemble oilengined vehicles is still under discussion.
