• Five drivers employed by Henry Long Transport were ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £1,019, after admitting a series of drivers' hours offences before the Bradford Magistrates.
Prosecuting for the North Eastern Traffic Area, senior traffic examiner Bryan Walscher said that all the drivers concerned were employed on the company's international operations. The drivers' hours rules were very complex, especially in overseas work.
Brian Dootson, of Bradford, was fined £200 and £15 costs, after admitting two offences of taking insufficient weekly rest.
Dennis Burke, of Bradford, was fined 2250, with 212 costs, after admitting one offence of exceeding 41/2 hours' driving without the required break and two offences of taking insufficient weekly rest.
Dennis Harker, of Bradford, was fined £259, with 212 costs, after admitting one 41/2 hours' driving offence and two offences of taking insufficient daily rest.
Richard Lee, of Bradford, was fined £200, with £15 costs, after admitting three 41/2 hour driving offences; and Ronald Wilson, also of Bradford, was fined £50, with 215 costs, after admitting a similar offence.
