At a joint' meeting of A.R.O. Hull Sub-area committee and the local C.M.U.A. committee it was decided to take concerted action on -various matters and to hold further joint meetings, with a view to facilitating the carrying into operation in the Hull district of the merger between the Associations. •
The following have been elected to the new sub-area committee of A.R.O. —Messrs. H. Walker, F. Cook, T.
Spencer, L. V. Brooksbank, J. Newham, E. S. Annison, G. Hunter, J. Richardson, N. Hodgson, D. Wells, J. Wilkinson and W. L. Dees.
New A.R.O. Activity in Dewsbury.
At a meeting of -the newly constituted Dewsbury and district Sub-area of A.R.O., the following were elected to the sub-area committee :-Messrs. F. Pickard, F. Brook, G. Holroyd, T. Jackson, J. Cooling, F. Senior, W. Cook, N. Beattie, D. A. Kirkby, A. Riley, L, A. Aked and H. Fearnley.
MOVE FOR PARLIAMENTARY SUPPORT.
In view of the forthcoming Budget, a letter is being sent from A.R.O. Yorkshire Area to each of the 97 Members of Parliament representing Yorkshire constituencies, requesting their support for the following suggested reductions in motor taxation:-5s. per horse-power to be removed from the tat on private cars; a reduction of 25 per cent, in the tax on commercial vehicles: and a remission of not less than 2d. in the duties on petrol and oil fuel.
