• Operators of skip-loaders and other waste collection vehicles in the West London area can now use a new disposal site at Colnbrook between 04:00 and 18:00.
Grundon Group's waste transfer station and highdensity baling plant in Lakeside Road, Colnbrook has been granted a 'Public Access' waste disposal licence which should be particularly useful to smaller waste collection companies, as most of the municipal tips in the area are stretched to full capacity, according to Grundon Group.
Grtmdon's Colnbrook site has been refurbished to enable vehicles to tip their waste on concrete hard-standing, wholly under cover.
At night the whole site, including the weighbridge and vehicle marshalling area, is floodlit. A canteen is also available for drivers. The site can accept all domestic refuse and dry trade and industrial waste, including food wastes, although prior notice is required for designated 'special' wastes.
Grundon's weighbridge at the entrance records gross (arrival) and tare (departure) weights and the time of each weighing.
Charges are, however, based primarily on load volumes plus a surcharge of 218 per tonne (including VAT) where open skip or container loads exceed four tonnes or compacted refuse loads exceed six tonnes.
Typical charges (excluding VAT):
fl 4.6m3 container (loose material) 216.50 13.7m3 container (compacted) 241.50 o 30.6m3 container or collection (compacted) 274.00
By special arrangement and subject to demand, the site can be opened outside the nominal opening times of 04.00 to 18.00hrs Monday to Friday, 06.00 to 11.00hrs Saturday.
