Even among the current crop of new and updated cabs, the jointly-developed Daf/ Enasa Cabtec cab is outstanding.
At the moment Daf presses out steel panels for Cabtec cabs near its main Eindhoven plant, while Enasa makes its own Cabtec panels in Spain for its Pegaso range, and before long Seddon Atkinson — Enasa's British subsidiary — is expected to be using its own version of the Cabtec.
Externally the Pegaso Troner and Leyland Daf F249 Cabtec variants are almost identical apart from badges, except that Leyland Daf is obviously happy with its aerodynamic profile because, unlike Enasa, it does not fit front corner deflectors. Having taken a 95-380 Spacecab version for a three-day drive around our 1,180km Scottish test route we can certainly testify that its side windows and mirrors stay free of road spray.
