LINCOLN City Transport general manager Mark Beswick has challenged National Bus Company chief executive Robert Brook over the fares war row being waged between his undertaking and Lincolnshire Road Car.
Mr Beswick says that it is unfortunate that the NBC has precipitated a fares war, with fares up to 55p lower than fares charged for the same length of journey elsewhere in the county.
He points out that the City Council chooses to distribute concessionery fares support to its own operation. He also points out that the Lincolnshire County Council pays less than 3 per cent of the operating deficit of the city bus undertaking and rarely more than one third of that of the NBC.
