KARRIER MOTORS will preview two new Renault vehicles at the Motor Show in October, prior to their general availability In mid1983.
The R310 is a derivative of the TR305 and uses the Berliet cab, whereas the G260 is a development of the TF231, and uses the wide version of the Club of Four cab.
The R310 is powered by the Berliet-built MIDR 06 35 40 engine, which has capacity of 12 litres (732cu in), and Is turbocharged and charge-cooled to produce 228kW (306bhp) DIN at 1,900rpm. The maximum torque of 1,290Nm (9501bft) is developed at 1,300rpm.
The R310 retains the same basic structure as the unit from the TR305, but it now features Renault's own combustion system in contrast to the MAN system of the earlier engine.
The gearbox specification for the UK version of the R310 has not yet been finalised, but is likely to include the existing Fuller box, as well as the new Renault B9 unit.
The R310 will have a new cab trim and will feature electric windows.
The G260 uses the Berliet MIDR 06 20 45 engine, which is again turbocharged and chargecooled. It is a long stroke verion of the MID 06 20 30 engine, and develops 195kW (260bhp) at 2,200rpm, again to the DIN rating with a maximum torque figure of 1,040Nm (765Ib ft) at 1,40Orpm.
In contrast to the R310, the G260 will be available with a choice of day and sleeper cab.
With a full tank of fuel, the G260 weights 5.96 or 6.06 tonnes (Stan 17cwt or 5ton 19cwt), depending on the choice of cab.
This particular Renault will use the latest 89 gearbox.
