WITH REFERENCE to the letter from Nigel Breeze of Southendon-Sea (CMJune 12), I would * like to draw his attention to the way a North American company has addressed the problems of diesel waxing in winter. Although these problems were not discussed at Tipcon '82 there were viable solutions to them on display in the exhibition hall. A Chicago-based company, CR Industries, were showing their Scavenger and Heatstar products designed to combat sub-zero temperatures and provide a reliable alternative to winter-grade fuel and additives.
An electrically heated primary filter/water separator and a heat transfer unit which utilises hot vehicle coolant to warm diesel fuel to 75°F are both available in the UK at fitted prices from around £100. A sales network of distributors and agents qualified to discuss and install these products throughout the UK is already attending to the needs of those companies far sighted enough not to be caught napping if the coming winter is anything like the last one.
