I refer to the second paragraph of your article "Specifying Mediumweights" (CM February 24) in which two sweeping inferences indicated that dealers are very worried about whether lorries are supplied according to the best job specification.
While one may admit that a prospective customer may be offered a vehicle from dealer's stock which is not to optimum specification, the salesman will usually say: "We can offer you this machine at a firm price with immediate delivery, but your exact specification may take a little time to obtain, will cost more and, because of inflation, over which we have no control, be subject to a general price increase before we can get it for you."
