COACH tours in Scotland will cost more this coming season. Authority has been given by the Scottish Traffic Commissioners for a 6d. increase on fares of 4s. 6d. or less, and a Is. increase on fares over 4s. 6d.
These increases cover tours from Girvan, Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Irvine, Ardrossan, Stevenston, Kilmarnock, Largs, Greenock and Glasgow. The operators concerned are the Western S.M.T. Co., Ltd. 05 tours); Clyde Coast Services, Ltd., Ardrossan (five); and Dodds (Coaches), Ltd., Troon (nine).
The operators made a co-ordinated approach to the Commissioners and b a se d their application on rising expenses and overheads.
NEW STACATRUC MODEL
ANEW type of Stacatruc fork-lift truck has been introduced by I.T.D., Ltd., 95-99 Ladbroke Grove, London, W.11. It is powered by an oil engine and features two-pedal control with a constant-mesh gearbox transmission system known as Stopmatic drive: Two forward speeds and one reverse are provided, and 12 hydraulic pistons control clutch engagement.
The steering axle has rubber suspension. Pneumatic or solid tyres may be fitted and power-assisted steering is available, if required. The capacity of the truck, known as the Model 624D, is 7,000 lb. Its engine is the B.M.C. 3.4-litre industrial unit.
