ON Sunday next a load of machinery is due to be delivered in Stuttgart, Germany, having travelled on a Dyson ,I5-ton semi-trailer from Britain. I.
• Leftley, Ltd., Barking, used an Atkinson tractor to take the semi-trailer to Tilbury yesterday, and the semi-trailer alone was placed on the ferry vessel to he picked up at Antwerp by a vehicle of Messrs. H. •W. Konig and Co., Dutch hauliers.
This means for dispatch was the only • method by which the machinery, which had been brought to this country for exhibition, could be returned soon enough for Customs clearance. Messrs. , Konig have arranged for a return load.
The semi-trailer has a twin-servo braking system, making it possible to operate in conjunction with a Continental type of tractor, and the S.A.E. coupling gear has been modified so that the king pin can quickly be detached and a unit compatible with the Dutch tractor substituted.
