• Two of Perkins's smaller diesel engines have been used as bases for liquid-petroleumgas (LPG) and petrol units. They are primarily intended for agricultural and industrial use and two examples — the three-cylinder 3.152 LPG and the four-cylinder G4 236 (petrol) — are on show at the Mechanical Handling Exhibition.
Some of the major components of the 3.152 and 4.236 diesels are retained, including the block, liners, gasket, camshaft and crankshaft and bearings, but the engines have re-designed heads, pistons, valves and connecting rods. Output ratings are similar to those of the diesels on which the units are based with the 3.152 LPG producing 48 bhp gross at 2,500 rpm and the 4.236 LPG 80 bhp gross at 2,600 rpm; petrol versions give 45 bhp and 78 bhp respectively at the same speeds.
