I see that the TRTA inspection service has added lustre to its reputation by coming off best in an encounter with the MoT. A vehicle in a Wiggins Teape Group company was given a delayed GV9 not long after being passed by a TRTA inspector. On return to base the machine was inspected by the TRTA's chief examiner, who asked that no maintenance work should be done on it but that a senior Ministry examiner be called in.
This was done, the MoT man gave it a clearance certificate on the spot and the vehicle went back into service—with no entry on the operator's record.
