some cases 'pride of company product' can encourage a narrow exclusivity of mind which acts as a brake on inter-company trading and the need to maximize NFC resources. We still have a degree of overlap, though some arm'slength competition between our compamies is desirable and is to be encouraged. Equally, we have not yet entirely found the happy mean sought by many companies where central services are used effectively without anxiety in the field about encroachments on local nitiatives."
The chairman told the )ress conference: "We are no longer hewers of wood and drawers of water. We have moved away from our Stateowned image and are now a commercially viable organization which has got its strategy of process and development right."
