THE DEPARTMENT of Transport today announced a new special quota of tax-free permits for Yugoslavia. This additional quota, negotiated at a recent meeting of the UK/Yugoslavia Joint Committee on Road Haulage, is available from 1 June for use by hauliers transiting Yugoslavia in order to use the new 56 hours ferry service from. Koper (Yugoslavia) to Tartous (Syria). The quote has been set initially at 700 permits for use in 1980, subject to review should this prove insufficient. These tax-free permits will replace the current temporary and taxable non-quota permits which will cease to be available after 31 May to operators using this service.
